Once an underrated sport deemed boring by the entertainment-starved urbanites (hence pole-dancing becoming a legitimate cardiovascular workout), running has been steadily winning the active urban population back in major cities around the world. New Balance and Nike both tapped into the running market, with the boston label opening a new experience store in Shanghai and Nike working with the NY Bridge Runners. adidas is not about to lose its edge in the running culture revival, and has taken advantage of the increasing popularity of running in Japan by opening a new performance concept store, adidas RUNBASE.

adidas RUNBASE is located just steps away from the Imperial Palace, a popular jogging spot in Tokyo. The concept store does not only offer a full range of adidas products geared towards running, but as its name suggests, it also acts as an active base for runners. Lockers (248 in total) and 16 shower stalls stocked with products are available for runners to rent alongside shoes. To commemorate the opening and celebrate the beginning of a beautiful active lifestyle in Tokyo, adidas has collaborated with Coca-Cola Japan to produce a new soy-based sports drink, Aquarius Pro.

The new concept location just opened yesterday and is now available for the public. Meanwhile, Aquarius Pro will be available and ready for purchase on the market next month on March 8. If you are planning on visiting Tokyo or are living in the city, do take full advantage of the new sport and squeeze a little cardio into your daily schedule.
